Slider Tool

Activate the tool, then click or tap in the Menu view graphics.svg Graphics View to create a slider for a number or an angle. The appearing dialog window allows to specify the Name, Interval [min, max], and Increment of the number or angle, as well as the Alignment, and its Speed and Animation mode.

  • In GeoGebra, a slider is the graphical representation of a free number or free angle. You can easily create a slider for any existing free number or angle by showing this object in the Menu view graphics.svg Graphics View: just click the visibility circle to the left of the number.

  • In the apps, any time you create a free number or free angle in Algebra View, the corresponding slider is displayed in the same View. Toggle the visibility circle on the left of the slider in Algebra View to display or hide it in the Graphics View.

The position of a slider can be absolute in the Menu view graphics.svg Graphics View (this means that the slider is not affected by zooming, but always remains in the visible part of the Menu view graphics.svg Graphics View) or relative to the coordinate system. This setting can be changed afterwards in the Menu-options.svg Properties Dialog of the corresponding number or angle.

Use the following shortcuts to enter a degree symbol ° or pi (π) for the interval and increment of a slider:

  • Alt + O (Mac OS: Ctrl + O) for the degree symbol °

  • Alt + P (Mac OS: Ctrl + P) for the pi symbol π

Fixed sliders

Sliders created with the Mode slider.svg Slider Tool are not fixed by default. Like other GeoGebra objects, sliders can be fixed. Select the context menu or the Menu-options.svg Properties dialog to change the setting and fix the slider. Once a slider is fixed, it can still be moved. Activate the Mode slider.svg Slider Tool and drag the slider. On non-touch devices, hold the right mouse button and drag to move the slider.
